Judith Page was born in Sydney, Australia. She graduated from the Chelsea School of Art in London, and is a respected artist and painter in esoteric circles, with particular focus on Egyptian art.

Judith also designs her own one of a kind range of silver Setian jewellery, specially made to her requirements by Egyptian craftmen.

In writing this poem I have attempted to cut through so much of what I now think of as Ancient Egypt, and only the bare bones will remain. Symbolic figureheads such as Osiris and Amon will be discussed, but not elevated, and favoured centres of apparent importance or popularity will be by-passed.

This will not be a book for those who wish to play tourist, dropping off here for a quick sensation, or stopping there for an imagined photo-shoot, it will be an experience for all those who wish to embrace the origin and notion of Set, and Set’s values. In recording the mythical life of Set, I have applauded him.

The strength and warmth of his intellect demand similar warmth in his dramatic performance throughout ancient Egyptian history. To adopt an attitude of detachment, particularly towards the ancient and unknown, can bar from sight those many scenes glimpsed by the historian who approaches the role of reconstructing an era with sympathy, insight and understanding.

Neither the truth nor the equilibrium of scholarship is disturbed by controlled imagination and honest praise of this much-maligned Egyptian God. I am portraying the mythological concept and personality of Set not in order to worship a hero, but to recognise him as a leader and a hero. Set strives to take his stand against 5,000 years of a ‘drift of history’ with the introduction of Osirion and Amonite tradition, and a preconditioning before being replaced by Christianity.

SONG OF SET

   This exciting rendition of the age-old account of Set, god of chaos and confusion, has been stylised into a narrative poem by Judith Page, titled The Song of Set. It is sixty-one pages in length complete with an illustration of the painting ‘Aeon of Set’ by the artist Judith Page.

The text is rich and compelling, and written in the same meter as the Finnish epoch, Kalevala. There is also a glossary of terms and explanatory notes on the Heb Sed Two festival that outlines the hidden side to Pharaoh’s ritual of re-birth and renewal, staged in the inner most chambers of the Great Pyramid of Khufu.

There are only 149 copies available in this limited edition. All are signed and numbered by the author. Beautifully hand bound in black leather look with heavy embossed gold lettering on the front cover and spine, this book is priced at only £33 Stirling inc. p&p and a ‘must have’, for any collector.

Grips the infinite star-dust body,
Bursting outward from her bright side,
Came the firstborn of her children,

Born of darkness from the starlight,
Thus came the child of wonder.
Knew he the heavenly daughter.
Knew he the beauty of the stars,
Set loved his mother with carnal pleasure,
Feeding on the milk of space-dust.
Sut-Typhon, the first boy-child,
The first opener of the way,
Set the God, and Nut Goddess,
Ruled expanses of the heavens,
Ruled the blackened land of Khemit,
And the deserts and the wasteland,
Drifted he upon the west-wind,
Freedom, courage were his by-words.
